Roberta Lee McDonald, 81, of Alpena passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Roberta Lee Allison was born in Birmingham on Sept. 29, 1936, to the late Walter and Grace (Johnson) Allison. She married David McDonald on Jan. 14, 1955. He preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1986. Roberta was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, enjoyed volunteering in the community including at the Friendship Room, Habitat and going on mission trips to help storm victims.

Surviving are four children, David and Lisa McDonald, Mark and Marjorie McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Elizabeth Rowe; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Walter and Barbara Allison; and a sister, Joan and Dean Copeland.

Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by an infant great- granddaughter; two sisters, Helen Erwin, Barbara Dickerson; and a brother, Charles Allison.

Visitation will take place on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Samuel Wright officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
