Patrick William Zolnierek, 80, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2017, at Tendercare Alpena.

Patrick was born on Feb. 6, 1936, in Alpena to the late Michael and Josephine (Rucznyski) Zolnierek. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Patrick enjoyed fishing, watching the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan football.

Surviving are his son, Mike (Dawn) of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter, Mary (Todd) Thompson of Alpena; grandsons, Jason Samp (Melanie), Eric (fiancee Chelsea) Thompson, and Travis Thompson (Jaime), all of Alpena, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Zolnierek was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; three sisters, Mary (Roland) Seguin, Vivian (Rupert) Niles, and Barbara (Gene) Durecki; nine brothers Carl, Dick, Harry, Jack, Lee, Ted, Tom, Norm, and Bob.

Per his wishes a private graveside service took place Friday morning at Holy Cross Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
