BILLY JOE TRAVIS

Mr. Billy Joe Travis, 30, of Hillman, Michigan, passed away doing what he loved on Jan. 6, 2017. He was born on Sept. 9, 1986 to Leroy and Judy (Karsen) Travis in Tawas, Mich. Billy was engaged to Lindsey Grace and ready to not only be a father to her son, Cayden, but also the couple was expecting a baby of their own. He graduated from Hillman High School in 2005 and was currently working for Elmer’s where he ran heavy equipment. Previously he was employed by both Black Horse Construction and Sunland Construction in North Dakota. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Billy loved anything with a motor, he was a professional snowmobile and motorcycle racer. He had been a member of Kovar Racing for the past three years. Billy always loved to ride, he started with his first dirt bike race at age 8, and was hooked from there. He spent countless hours with his great friend, Kaleb Edwards working on Hillbilly Deluxe and traveling to truck events all over the nation together. He also enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. Billy was always there for friends and family, and had a knack for helping kids out. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Billy is survived by his fiance, Lindsey Grace and her son, Cayden of Hillman, Mich.; mother, Judy (Bob) Cordes of Hillman; father, Leroy (Beth) Travis of Harrisville, Mich.; brothers, Ty (Shannon) Travis of Henderson, Nev., Justin (Julieanne) Cordes of Hillman, and Lucas Cordes of Lachine, Mich.; sisters, Betty Jo (Cory) Halbert of Johannesburg, Mich., Mari Lee (Jacob) Anderson of Harrisville, Nakita Marie Cordes of Hillman, Kelly Gordon of Lincoln, Mich., and Jessica Ortiz of Lincoln; and nieces and nephews, Devan, Elizabeth, Katelyn, Brookelynn, Travis, Donovan, and Maisyn.

Funeral services for Mr. Travis will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at the Hillman Community Center at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jason Mandley officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday at the community center from 11 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Billy Travis Family Memorial Fund. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home.
