RICHARD LEE CHAPDELAINE

CHAPDELAINE, Richard Lee, 85, of Lachine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Pontiac, Mich., to Andrew and Eva (LaFlamme) Chapdelaine and spent most of his working life in Port Huron, Mich. On April 4, 1947 he married the former Leona Laslo at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe, Mich. He retired from Mueller Brass as a tool and die maker at the age of 53. During his retirement years they traveled extensively and for many years would spend the winter in Florida. He enjoyed the time he would spend sitting on the deck “timing” the sunset. A simple man with a heart of gold, Richard will be truly missed by the many people he encountered.

Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Leona; three children, Susan (Mike) Niven of Vicksburg, Mich., Ronald (Jean) Chapdelaine of Marysville, Mich., Christine (Jerry) Neiman of Grand Rapids, Mich; 11 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; a brother, Gordon (Marilyn) Chapdelaine of Gregory, Mich., and two sisters-in-law; Barbara Chapdelaine of Roscommon, Mich., and Gladys Chapdelaine of Auburn Hills, Mich. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee; a sister and four brothers.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Marysville, Mich., from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 12 noon with Fr. Art Baranowski officiating. Inurnment will be at the Marysville River Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
