BRUCE EDWARD WENZEL

Bruce Edward Wenzel, died in his home Sept. 24, 2014. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Otto Wenzel, and his mother Grace Mills Wenzel. Bruce was born Nov. 9, 1949, in Roger City, Mich. Melvin died while Bruce was an infant, and was raised alongside Douglas Wenzel. By their mother. While still in grade school Grace moved the family to their home in Sandy Bay on Grand Lake. After graduating college at Olivet, he returned to the family home on Grand Lake. In 1977 he married his loving and devoted wife Janine. The couple lived in Hillman, Mich., where their daughter Jennifer Wenzel was born. In 1982 the young family moved to Jensen Beach, Fla. There, Bruce and Janine went on to have a son Christopher Wenzel. Bruce is also survived in death by son in-law Michael Bauer, grand-daughters Grace Wenzel-Bauer and Brooke Dailey-Wenzel and daughter in-law to be Katie Stoy. Bruce had a passion for life and never met a stranger. He was a superb chef and gregarious host. He was kind, generous, and uplifting. Bruce was an amazing father and grandfather, a wonderful husband and friend. From a young age he was an outdoor enthusiast, world traveler, and avid angler. He enjoyed snow skiing and tennis. Bruce loved animals, traveling with his family, gardening with his wife and being a grandfather. Some of Bruce’s favorite places were Walkers Cay and Islamorada. Bruce was happiest aboard his boat with his family and friends. In honor of his memory a memorial will be held later this year in the islands, and at Presque Isle Harbor the summer of 2015. Memorial donations may be made in Bruce’s name to the Stroke Recovery Wing at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
