LANSING – Amy Hovey, CEO and Executive Director of the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), issued the following statement on Congress’ recent passage of the fiscal year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) appropriations bill:
“MSHDA is pleased Congress has approved the THUD appropriations bill, which provides critical federal resources to help strengthen communities and expand housing opportunities across Michigan.
This funding supports core programs that help families afford stable housing, preserve and improve existing homes, prevent and reduce homelessness, and invest in local community development. From rental assistance and supportive housing to the Community Development Block Grant program, the HOME Investment Partnerships program, and programs that serve seniors, people with disabilities, and tribal communities, these investments help states and local partners respond to real needs in real time. As housing challenges continue to affect every region of our state, sustained federal support remains essential to complement state and local efforts and help ensure more Michiganders can access safe, stable and affordable housing.”
