Tawas/Au Gres: Anglers reported catching walleye in fair numbers in 60 feet of water using both crawler harnesses and crankbaits. Lake trout and freshwater drum were also caught. Anglers who made the run to Charity Island had success catching walleye, with the best results coming on bottom bouncers fished in 14 feet of water. ALPENA — The City of Alpena and Alpena County are partnering to provide free N95 masks to residents as wildfire smoke continues to affect air quality across northern Michigan, according to a press release on Friday.
