Fatal aircraft crash in Alcona County

HARRISVILLE -- At approximately 6:56 p.m. on Saturday, Alcona Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a single engine plane that crashed on private property located on US-23 near Shaw Rd. Deputies identified the pilot as 81-year-old Stephen Bourgoin from Ossineke, who was pronounced deceased on scene. Initial reports to dispatch indicated a single occupant was unresponsive. Deputies from the Alcona Sheriff’s Office were first to arrive on scene followed shortly by First Responders from Harrisville and Lincoln Fire Departments, as well as Alcona County EMS.
The cause of the crash is unknown at the time of the press release; however, the investigation is ongoing and the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office is working directly with the Federal Aviation Administration to investigate the crash.
