ALPENA – The Alpena Symphony String School Ensemble, flutists MaryAnn Hubbard and Dani Ayotte, and violinists Dr. Eric Lawson and Corey Spratlan, will perform an Autumn Serenade concert on Sunday, at 3:30 p.m. It will be at the First United Methodist Church of Alpena on Ripley Blvd and 1st Avenue. The String School Ensemble will play a variety of pieces, but the highlights of the concert will be three-fold. First, the Duet for Two Flutes, Opus 82, by Francois Devienne. Next, two lovely hymn solos performed by MaryAnn Hubbard. And last, a delightful combination of five violin duets by Hungarian composer Bela Bartok juxtaposed with four Beatles songs by Lennon and McCartney, all played by Dr. Lawson and ASO concertmaster Corey Spratlan. This performance is free of charge, although donations are always appreciated, and a reception will follow the concert. Join us for an afternoon of special music!
