Alpena - The Salvation Army is busy, like Christmas elves, preparing for our food and toy distribution and our Red Kettle fundraiser. The needs have increased throughout the year which means we will be busier than ever and more dependent on our great supporters in the Alpena area. Right now we are working on assisting those in need in Alpena.
Our Christmas Assistance Sign-Up for families and individuals living in Alpena County is coming soon. Applications are being taken at The Salvation Army Church located at 722 N. 2nd Ave., Alpena Tuesday the 27th and Friday the 30th from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
All applicants need to bring the following:
1) Picture I.D. of applicant with Alpena County address.
2) Some form of I.D. for all others in the household such as birth certificate, school I.D., Medicaid card, etc.
3) Proof of all income in the household such as paycheck stub, DHHS, Social Security benefits documentation, etc.
The fourth annual Kettle Kick off will be on Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Culligan Plaza in Alpena. You will meet the honorary Christmas Kettle Chair, hear the goal for 2026, have snacks, and listen to a local band. This is always a great time for us to ring in the season and kick off our fundraiser.
