ALPENA – Friends Together is thrilled to announce the launch of an empowering new initiative, "MOVE Through Your Cancer Journey," designed to support cancer patients and survivors. This

innovative program is made possible through generous grant funding from the Women’s Giving Circle and aims to enhance the well-being of participants by providing access to free exercise classes.

Exercise is recognized as a vital component of cancer care.

Regular physical activity is essential for improving overall health and can help cancer patients recover more quickly and improve their quality of life. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) also emphasize that exercise can reduce fatigue, improve physical function, and enhance the overall sense of well-being in cancer survivors.

Through the "MOVE Through Your Cancer Journey" program, eligible individuals will receive vouchers to attend one exercise class per week of their choice at the Joshua Tree Studio in Alpena. This opportunity not only promotes physical health but also emotional and mental well-being during and after treatment.

Recognizing the profound impact of exercise on recovery and quality of life, Friends Together is committed to making these resources accessible to those who need them most.

In addition to the significant grant provided by the Women’s Giving Circle, Joshua Tree Studio has graciously contributed an in-kind donation, allowing a total of 500 class vouchers to be distributed to cancer patients and survivors. This collaboration underscores the power of community partnerships in fostering resilience and hope.

"We are truly honored to be a part of this wonderful program and grateful for the opportunity to support Friends Together and the incredible individuals they serve. Together, we

hope to bring movement, connection, strength, mindfulness and a little more wellness to those on their cancer journey,” studio owner Joanna Cooper said.

Friends Together invites all eligible participants to take advantage of this program. For more information on how to register or to inquire about eligibility, please contact Friends Together at (989) 356-3231. An Open House event will be held at Joshua Tree (107 W.
