ALPENA – Wood located at the wood lot on U.S.-23 North, next to Suburban Propane, is open for applications from community members, according to a City of Alpena press release.
The wood located at this lot came from the removal of city street trees. Adjacent homeowners were given the first right of refusal for this wood. As opposed to letting it deteriorate, the city is offering it to the public after completing an application.
Personal use fuel wood applications are available at Alpena City Hall, Department of Public Works, and on the city's website at www.alpena.mi.us at no cost.
Please note: Wood that was formally too large to maneuver has been split and reduced to smaller sections to allow for easier pickup and transportation. Wood on the lot is available on a first come, first service basis.
