ALPENA --- The Alpena County Library has released its schedule of events for this month and there is a host of fun and educational offerings for the people in Northeast Michigan.

Weekly Storytime
This event begins at 9:30 a.m. and lasts until 10 a.m. each Thursday in October.
It is held in the youth area and hosted by Ms. Lydia. Each session will have stories, music, crafts, and snacks. Ages 0-5 years old are welcome with a parent or caregiver.
Joel Tacey's Tales from Beyond is today from 5 - 6 p.m. in the Stillion Conference Room
It is open to people of all ages.
Join Joel Tacey for a macabre collection of authentic hands-on artifacts, participants will examine an amazing array of history, creepy mysteries. And each true tale ends with a spooky, spine-tingling twist.

The Teen and Tween Gourd Painting event will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
For people ages 13-19 years old.
Get crafty this fall and turn an ordinary gourd into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Join Carly and Hadley for an afternoon of gourd painting, where you can let your creativity run wild.
Gourds will come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so no two masterpieces will be alike. Carly and Hadley will be on hand to share tips, ideas, and artistic guidance or you can totally make your own rules.
This event will last while supplies last and will be held in the Stillion Conference Room.
The Lego Club will meet from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday and Oct. 19th in the youth area of the facility. It is open for people 6-13 years old.
The kids will compete in building challenges, collaborate with fellow builders, or free build. The library will provide the bricks and base plate, so please leave your personal LEGO bricks at home so they won't get lost or mixed in with our assortment. All abilities are welcome. Creations will stay at the library and be displayed until the following meet-up!.
Early Connections will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. each Tuesday of the month. It will be held in the Stillion Conference Room
Play and socialization for caregivers and children ages 0-5 years old each Tuesday.. No registration is necessary. There will also be a free puppet storytime 4 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the youth area.
The Sewing Club- MakerLab will meet on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
No sewing experience? No problem. This club is open to all skill levels from beginners to experts. It is for people ages 10 years old and older. Bring your sewing machine, supplies, such as scissors, straight pins and a project to work on. We will supply the space and guidance. For those without a sewing machine, there are 3 machines on site for use.

An estate planning presentation on Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the Stillion Conference Room.
Join local estate planning attorney Ben Harpe from Harris Law, P.C. for a lighthearted presentation
featuring estate planning "horror stories" and how to avoid some common pitfalls. Through real-life
anecdotes and examples, you'll see how thoughtful planning can ensure that your wishes are carried out
and your family is protected.
Words and Music will be on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the Stillion Conference Room. It is open to people of all ages.
Words and Music is back, and it is great for everyone who loves movies, music, and storytelling. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and last until 2 p.m. It will be very laid-back.
Technology Try it Event will be held on Oct. 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Stillion Conference Room. The library has new equipment for check out. Come learn how to use the new equipment and take a preview of the new Telehealth Privacy Pod coming soon to the library. Brought to you from Digital Pathways: Online Health Literacy Programming for Adults Grant.
Pokemon Club will again be held on Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event is open for kids ages 8-18 years old in the youth area.
At this one-hour program, attendees will learn how to play Pokémon, battle peers, trade cards, do crafts, and watch Pokémon. Attendees should bring their own cards to the
meet-up, but the library will also have some available for those who do not have their own.
No registration necessary and drop-ins are welcome.
Laser Tag will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Oct. 15 from 5 – 6 p.m. In the Stillion Conference Room. It is open to people ages 9-17 years.
At this 60-minute program, each attendee will have the opportunity to play multiple
short team games. All games will be played in the Stillion Conference Room, unless otherwise specified. Registration is required to attend and space is limited to 16 players per session. Please reach out to James for any questions. jdevault@alpenalibrary.org or Ext 23.
Witches Night Out Activity is for all ages 4-7 p.m.
Calling witches, wizards, warlocks, ghouls, ghosts! Join the library for a spectacularly spooky mini art challenge. Participants will use their imagination to create a spooky scene on a mini canvas using an assortment of provided craft supplies. The mini canvases will hold center stage on our downstairs display for patrons to vote on their favorite until Oct. 23at 4 p.m.. At 4:30pm, the library will announce the winner and runner-up on the library's Facebook page. The winner will receive $15 in downtown dollars and the runner-up will receive a $10 gift card to Cabin Creek.
Beyond Differences will be held on Oct. 23 from 4- 5:30 p.m. in the Stillion Conference Room
A friendship club for all promoting kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. Ages 12-21.
DnD One Shot will be held on October 24 from 1-3 p.m. for people ages 12-18 years old.
Only 6 spots are available, do register soon.
Start and finish a shorter Dungeons and Dragons campaign through one-shot. The program is open to first-time DND players and those who have campaign experience.
Glowforge "Boo" Sign will be on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The event is open for people ages 18 years old and older

Make It Spooky, Make It Yours.
This fall create your very own wooden Halloween sign! Every participant will start with the same design, but you get to make it your own with paint, colors, and creative touches.
Come ready to get creative, have some fun, and add a little handmade spookiness to your home.
