League of Women Voters to Host Q & A Event with Alpena School Board Candidates Candidates for the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education will be on hand for a unique public forum titled “Candidating” on Sept. 23, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church Social Room, located at US 23 North and Long Rapids Road.
This nonpartisan event is hosted by the League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan (LWVNEMI) and offers a fresh, interactive spin on the traditional candidate forum. Utilizing a “speed-dating” style format, candidates for the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education will rotate from table to table to engage directly with attendees.
This informal dialogue provides Alpena Public Schools (APS) district voters an opportunity to have face-to-face conversations, ask questions, and voice their priorities directly to the individuals seeking to lead the school district for the next four years.
“This event gives you the opportunity to ask questions of those seeking to lead APS,” said Kathy Bower, President of LWVNEMI.
“It's designed to foster meaningful, direct communication between voters and candidates in a comfortable, informal setting.”
The League of Women Voters of Northeast Michigan is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering voters and defending democracy. All members of the public are encouraged to attend, learn more about the candidates, and prepare for the upcoming election.
Admission is free, and no prior registration is required.
