ALPENA -- The Association of Lifelong Learners (ALL) have released its schedule for programs for next week. Below is more information and a brief description of each.
– Tour and Travel will be held on Monday at the ACC Madeline Briggs Center 140 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
This will be a Tour & Travel presentation, discussing why group travel is a good option for those looking to create new travel experiences. Mark will discuss the do's and do not's of travel, how to travel safely. He will also provide a high-level overview of the different types of tour & travel services offered (motorcoach, domestic, international, fly travel, day trips, along with our Travel Agent services that connect travelers with reputable and safe tour partners across the globe).
MJ (Mark) Kraft-Strong is an Alpena native that began Beyond Horizons Tour & Travel form his college dorm room in 2005. Over the past 21 years, the company has grown to be a leader in the tour and travel industry in Michigan and across the United States.
– The History of Rockport Quarry is on Tuesday at the ACC Madeline Briggs Center 140 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Discover the fascinating industrial history of Rockport Quarry and Stone Plant with historian Don La Barre of the Michigan History Center. This presentation explores the quarry’s development from the early to mid-20th century, highlighting the growth, technology, and innovation that made it one of Michigan’s significant stone production operations. La Barre will examine the methods used to extract and process limestone, the machinery that powered production, and the technological advancements that improved efficiency throughout the quarry’s busiest decades.
Don La Barre is a historian with the Michigan History Center whose work focuses on preserving and interpreting Michigan’s rich cultural and industrial heritage. Through research, public presentations, and educational outreach, he brings the stories of Michigan’s historic sites, industries, and communities to life.

– Lady Michigan Tour will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m.until noon and the tour will begin at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center.
Join your ALL friends as they explore Lake Huron shipwrecks and miles of beautiful shore line and blue water horizons on board the Lady Michigan glass-bottom boat with a knowledgeable tour guide and staff. – October Moveable Feast will be held at the Sand Bar and Grill on, Oct. 1 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Join Doctor of Physical Therapy student Katherine Finley in exploring how physical activity and inactivity affect the brain, heart, muscles, bones, and overall function. Discover how staying active can help maintain strength, independence, and quality of life as we age.
Katherine Finley, SPT is a third-year Doctor of Physical Therapy student at Grand Valley State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Allied Health from Grand Valley State University in 2024.
