Scrap Tire Community Cleanup Day to be hosted by Conservation District

The Alpena-Montmorency Conservation District will accept clean, dry scrap tires from non-commercial sources on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1425 Airport Road, Alpena, MI 49707.

This service is offered free of charge to the communities of Alpena and Montmorency Counties, and goodwill donations will be accepted. Guidelines for donating scrap tires are as follows:

Rims must be removed. Passenger car & light truck tires only. We will NOT accept the following: ag/tractor tires, loader tires, airplane tires, or semi-truck tires. Tires must be dropped off the day of the event. Tires MAY NOT be dropped off at the warehouse during the days leading up to the event.

The Scrap Tire Community Cleanup Day is made possible by a grant from the Michigan Department of Energy, Great Lakes, and Environment (EGLE). Recycled scrap tires have many uses including fuel, mulch, backfill, incorporation into roads, and manufacturing new tires.
