ALPENA -- The Association of Lifelong Learners (ALL) has announced its programs for the week of August 24-28 and it includes a lot of fun and educational opportunities.

Travel Vicariously--Voyage of the Viking Cruise

This event is on Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the ACC Madeline Briggs Center 140.

Join Rocky Roland as he takes you along on he and Ginny's recent Holland America Cruise--the 35-day voyage of the Vikings.

Explore the North Atlantic's rugged beauty and historical Viking route on a roundtrip journey from Boston. Explore the Canadian Maritimes including Red Bay, Corner Brook and St Anthony. Visit Greenland's remote coastal towns of Paamiut, Qaqortoq, and Nanortalik. Circumnavigate Iceland sailing scenic fjords, spend an overnight in Reykjavik AND on a sea day out of Iceland experience the total solar eclipse. Stops in Eidfjord, Norway, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Belfast Northern Island help round out the itinerary. Enjoy this special travel presentation which will be the next best thing to being there! Rocky Roland will lead this presentation. Rocky is a retired USAF Colonel, a former fighter pilot and space systems expert. He is a voracious reader, an inveterate traveler, and a frequent ALL presenter on his travels and other esoteric topics. After this cruise, Rocky and his wife Ginny will have visited 120 countries in their travels

Life Lessons Learned While Climbing a Mountain

Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro – the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain on earth – with my two daughters taught me many things…. but they weren’t about mountain climbing. Please join to hear about our mother-daughter adventures in Tanzania.

Teri List technically is retired from a long finance career that spanned many companies and locations. She keeps busy sitting on boards of major companies like Microsoft, Visa, Danaher and lululemon. She spent much of her career in consumer companies, including Procter & Gamble, Kraft Foods, and Gap, Inc. Over the course of her career, she had the good fortune of traveling the world, visiting over 55 countries. She has two married daughters and a beautiful granddaughter. So far, only one daughter has inherited her adventurous travel gene – but there is hope for her granddaughter!

Anatomy of a Murder: From the Courtroom to the Silver Screen

This fun event is slated for Aug. 27 from noon until 1 p.m. at the ACC Madeline Briggs Center 140.

Learn about the deep Michigan roots of Anatomy of a Murder. Inspired by a real-life crime, Michigan Supreme Court Justice John D. Voelker's novel became a 1959 film, shot on location in the Upper Peninsula. We'll go behind the scenes in this presentation!
