HARRISVILLE – There are some fun and exciting events planned for the Alcona County Library in the next several weeks. Below is only a taste of some of the fun in store.
Summer Reading Ends August 14
There's still time to get those last Summer Reading tickets in! The Alcona County Library's "Unearth a Story" Summer Reading Program ends Friday, August 14. Kids should turn in all completed Summer Reading tickets at the same branch where they originally signed up so they can be entered into the prize drawings.
Tickets may be turned in at:
– Harrisville Branch - 312 W. Main St., Harrisville
– Lincoln Branch - 330 Traverse Bay Rd., Lincoln
– Mikado Branch - 2291 S. F-41, Mikado
– Glennie Branch - 4884 Bamfield Rd., Glennie
– Hubbard Lake Branch - 1561 Hubert Rd., Hubbard Lake
Be sure to get your tickets in by Aug. 14 for your chance to win cool prizes! The drawing will be on Aug. 21, at 1 p.m..
Bedazzled Book Covers
Add a little sparkle to your bookshelf! Join us for Bedazzled Book Covers and transform a book into a one-of-a-kind creation using gems, embellishments, and plenty of creativity. Upcoming sessions will be held Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Lincoln Branch, 330 Traverse Bay Rd.; Aug. 25, at noon at the Glennie Branch, 4884 Bamfield Rd.; and Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Hubbard Lake Branch, 1561 Hubert Rd. Bedazzled Book Covers is presented by the Alcona County Library and funded by a grant from the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan (CFNEM).
Local Author Event with Lucy Niles Rescheduled
The Local Author Event with Lucy Niles, previously postponed due to air quality concerns, has been rescheduled for Aug. 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrisville branch of the Alcona County Library, 312 W. Main St., Harrisville. Lucy will share her children's book, Max the Greatest, a heartwarming story based on true events. The book follows Max, a shelter cat, and the wonderful life and adventures he shares with his owner. Cookies will be available for children, and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library. Copies of the book will be available for sale before and during the event, with all proceeds going to local Humane Societies.
