ALPENA -- The Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union (AAACU) team members at the Alpena main branch presented Brenda Herman from Huron Pines with a$10,000 donation towards the Potters Point Land Protection Campaign.

The goal of this campaign is to purchase Potters Point, a 41-acre parcel of land on the Lake Huron shoreline in Alpena County, and transform it into a nature preserve.

The property is currently privately owned and over $1 million in funding has already been raised. As a nature preserve, the property will be open to the public with plans for low-impact recreation, potentially a kayak launch and environmental stewardship education opportunities.

AAACU is proud to support local projects that aim to preserve our incredible natural resources for generations to come.

This donation is made possible by the credit union's Community Investment Fund. These funds are comprised of dollars donated back into our communities thanks to credit union members

who choose to receive their monthly statements electronically. The credit union pledges to donate $9.00 annually for each of these e-statements accounts. In 2026, AAACU will donate up

to $320,406.00 back into the communities they serve.
