The 2026 Big Brownie was caught by Scott Wade and Ryder Wade on Monday at the Michigan Brown Trout Festival in Alpena. The Wades won a pot of approximately $6,300 for catching this year’s tagged brown trout. The tagged brown trout is planted each year prior to the start of the festival. The tagged fish has only been caught once before in 2017 by the team of Jan Stepanski and Robert Westenbarger.
