Male stabbed in Mikado Township

On Thursday at approximately 7:05 p.m., deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Mikado baseball fields on Barlow Road in Mikado Township for a male that had been stabbed in the neck. Alcona Central Dispatch obtained information on the suspect and dispatched Mikado First Responders and Alcona EMS. Alcona EMS was able to quickly load the victim and transport him to MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena with critical injuries. The victim was then med-flighted to Ann Arbor My Michigan Hospital. It was the quick action of the Alcona EMS, Alcona Sheriff’s deputy, and Mikado First Responders tending to the victim’s injuries that helped sustain his life. As of the time of the press release the victim has undergone surgery and is due to be released from the hospital.
Alcona County deputies were quickly able to ascertain the location of the suspect, Joshua Dohring, 40, of Mikado. They were able to take the suspect into custody. The Alcona Sheriff’s Office, as the lead agency, requested and was granted assistance by the Michigan State Police-Crime Lab technicians and assistance from MSP Alpena Post detectives. The investigation required three different scenes to be evidence teched along with multiple vehicles and numerous search warrants. It also required interviews of multiple people that were conducted by Alcona County Sheriff’s deputies and the detectives from MSP that night and as the investigation continued through the weekend.
Dohring was charged with attempted murder. As the investigation continued by Alcona County deputies through the weekend, a second person, Cassandra Quintanilla, 36, of Mikado, was arrested for accessory after the fact-attempted murder. Both subjects were arraigned in the 81st District Court on Monday. Joshua Dohring was given a $1 million dollar bond cash surety 10%. Cassandra Quintanilla was given a $50,000 bond cash surety 10%. They are currently lodged in the Alpena County Jail.
