A fatality of a 26-year-old man in a car crash occurred in Alcona County on Monday, according to a press release from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday at 6:10 a.m. deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office and Alcona EMS were dispatched to M-65 and Sawmill Road in Curtis Township for a crash with unknown injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that Ryan Bishop, 26, of Montrose, was traveling northbound on M-65. The vehicle left the roadway just south of Sawmill Road, into the right ditch, then went airborne, and collided with a large tree. Bishop was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up that belonged to his employer Dubois Electric Inc. out of Indian River. Bishop was pronounced deceased at the scene by Alcona EMS.

The crash remains under investigation currently by the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office crash investigator. There is no indication at this time that drugs, alcohol, or speed were a factor in the crash.
