Troopers from the Michigan State Police Post Alpena are hosting a Community Blood Drive today at the Alpena City Fire Department located at 501 W Chisholm Street in Alpena from 1 p.m. until – 5:30 p.m.

Appointments for the blood donation are preferable and can be made by calling 866-642-5663. Walk-ins are also welcome, as the schedule allows.

Before donating blood, make sure to eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water beforehand.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood and or platelets. Donating blood takes about an hour and has the potential to impact up to three lives.
