U.S. News and World Report ranked Sanborn Elementary in the top 14% of elementary schools in the state, according to a Wednesday press release from Alpena Public Schools. Sanborn has been honored in recent years for their strong participation in Imagine Math and scored highly based on testing results in both English and Math. Despite Northeast Michigan’s struggles with the highest child poverty rates in Michigan and Alpena County being ranked in the bottom 10 counties in our state for overall poverty, APS continues to shine for the ability to build pathways for students to overcome these daunting economic hurdles to reach their educational and career goals!
