Maple Ridge township supervisor John Male has pre-trial hearing
ALPENA — Maple Ridge Township Supervisor John Male, 72, appeared in the 88th District Court in Alpena on Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing.
Male is charged with one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, one count of open intoxicants in a vehicle, one count of disorderly person drunk and causing a public disturbance, and one count of trespassing.
Male was arrested on Aug. 23 and arraigned on Oct. 14.
A person found guilty of being a disorderly person is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than $500, or both.
A person found guilty of trespassing is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than 30 days or by a fine of not more than $250, or both.
At the pre-trial hearing, Prosecuting Attorney Cynthia Muzynski read the list of witnesses and exhibits for the case in the event that it goes to trial.
Male’s defense counsel, Attorney David Funk, also presented a certificate of survey in relation to the trespassing charge.
Male’s next hearing is at 10 a.m. on Dec. 16.
