AAACU raises money for school food programs

According to an AAACU press release, the organization fundraises for local human-need causes and nonprofit organizations every quarter.

The release states that in the third quarter of 2025, July through September, all ten of AAACU’s branches fundraised for after-school food programs in their immediate areas. The local organizations that will receive funds from these efforts include the Alpena Area Feeding Kids Ministry; After School Snack or Meal Programs in Atlanta, Lincoln, Alcona, and Rogers City; Posen School Snack Program; Oscoda Area Schools Backpack program; and Tawas Area Schools tutoring program.

In total, $4,578.52 was raised across the ten AAACU branches, according to the release.

AAACU members eligible for prizes as part of Save to Win program

An AAACU press release states members who participate in the credit union’s Save to Win program are eligible for prizes ranging from $25 to $5000 for every $25 deposited into their Save to Win account.

AAACU states that the program is designed to help low-to-moderate-income members build their savings. The Save to Win program allows members to make deposits in $25 increments over a 12-month period into a special share certificate. They can earn interest on this certificate and cannot withdraw funds during the 12-month period without paying a fee.

According to the release, members who participate in the program are also entered into monthly and quarterly drawings to win cash prizes at local and national levels.

AAACU teaches financial literacy at Alpena Childcare and Development Center

AAACU team members visited the Alpena Childcare and Development Center to teach kids about financial literacy and wellness, according to an AAACU press release.

The release states that AAACU team members spent the afternoon reading stories, hosting financial education activities, and sharing AAACU swag with the kids.

“The team had a wonderful day connecting with kids and parents and sharing more about the credit union and its products and services,” AAACU states in the release. “The credit union welcomes opportunities to provide the next generation with the financial literacy tools they need to make smarter and more successful choices later in life.”

AAACU donates $500 to Alcona Community Schools

AAACU recently donated $500 to the Alcona Community Schools Robotics Team 5525, according to an AAACU press release. The team competes annually in the First Robotics competitions and gives students the opportunity for hands-on learning in the STEM field.

The release states that the program allows students to gain real experience they can use for the rest of their lives and careers.

According to AAACU, the funds donated will support the program through supplies, transportation costs, competition fees, and more.

“The credit union is proud to sponsor programs that support our area youth in the pursuit of skills and knowledge that will allow them to build successful careers,” the release states.

According to a press release, AAACU sponsored and staffed the Alpena Community College (ACC) concession stand with volunteers during the ACC women’s volleyball season. At the end of the season, the credit union donated the profits from the concession stand, totaling $400, back to the program.
