At a regular meeting of the Alcona County Board of Commissioners Deputy Logan Bewley was given a Certificate of Meritorious Action by Alcona County Sheriff Scott Stephenson. The award stems from an incident on Aug. 19 when Deputy Bewley was dispatched to a house fire on Barlow Rd. in Gustin Township. Deputy Bewley and Tpr. Pagels from the Michigan State Police (MSP) arrived on scene, and found the home full of smoke and engulfed in flames. Discovering that there was still an occupant inside the home Deputy Bewley and Tpr. Pagels made entry into the home regardless of their own personal safety. Deputy Bewley was able to locate the occupant within the home and get him outside to safety. Tpr. Pagels was recognized by the Michigan State Police.
