Student with knife removed from Alpena High School
During first hour at the Alpena High School on Friday, a student called their teacher to their desk and informed the teacher that they had brought a knife to school. The teacher followed protocol, calling for security assistance and clearing the students from the room. Alpena City Police intervened, taking custody of the knife, and removing the student from the building. The juvenile student was placed into protective custody by the Alpena Police Department. No students, staff, or law enforcement were injured. This was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to students or staff. This is an open investigation and law enforcement will work with the Alpena County Prosecutor’s Office for review of potential criminal charges.
