Busy season at Brush Creek Mill

ALPENA — As winter looms, Northeast Michigan is embracing the changing seasons and upcoming holiday events. Brush Creek Mill has a full line-up of holiday fun as we close out October and enter the last weeks of 2025.

FALL EVENTS

Halloween — Brush Creek Mill will host Halloween trick-or-treating from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Donations of candy are welcomed.

Soup Sale — From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, the mill will host a soup sale. Drop-offs for soup and bread is available from noon to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Volunteers are still needed for this event.

WINTER EVENTS

Holiday Decorating — Brush Creek Mill is requesting volunteers to help decorate the mill for the holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. Tasks will include setting up the memorial tree, Christmas Village, and decorations. The mill will provide volunteers with a luncheon of soup and bread.

Christmas Tree Competition — From Nov. 6 to Nov. 22, the mill will host a Christmas Tree competition. The entry fee is $5 per tree. Individuals, organizations, companies, and groups are welcome to participate.

Individuals can view the trees from November to December, and vote on their top picks. Three tickets will cost one dollar and the mill will announce the winner on Thursday, Dec. 18 at the Memorial Tree Lighting.

Children’s Christmas Party — The mill will host a Children’s Christmas Party from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. Set-up for the event will take place at noon on Friday, Dec. 5. Activities will include photos with Santa, crafts, cookie decorating, bingo, and a free book table.

Volunteers are needed for set-up and during the event.
