HUNT conducts large drug bust

PRESQUE ISLE — On June 24 the Huron Area Narcotics Team (HUNT), with the assistance of the Michigan State Police (MSP) Alpena Post, discovered approximately 170 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 114 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and 25 grams of crack cocaine, according to an MSP press release.
The press release states the discovery was made through an investigation following a traffic stop of a vehicle on 451 Hawks Township, Presque Isle County. Multiple gift cards from Dollar General were found ranging from $50 to $100 along with $536 in cash.
The investigation continued and a consent search of the suspect’s residence was granted, according to the press release. Detectives seized an additional 42 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 60 grams of powder cocaine, 46 oxycodone pills, seven hydrocodone pills, an additional $300 in cash, hundreds of individual baggies commonly used for packaging narcotics, and a loaded unregistered handgun.
The press release reports that the total amount of narcotics seized from the vehicle and the residence was the following: 231 grams of powder cocaine, 156.1 grams of methamphetamine, 50.2 grams of crack, seven hydrocodone pills, 46 oxycodone pills, $836 in cash, and an unregistered handgun. The total weight of all narcotics seized comes to 437.3 grams, which is .96 pounds of cocaine, crack, and methamphetamine.
A 63-year-old man from Millersburg was arrested and lodged in the Presque Isle County Jail, according to the press release. The suspect’s name will not be released until after arraignment. HUNT was assisted by the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Office and the MSP Alpena Post.
