Sentencings, plea deals seen at Circuit Court Monday
ALPENA — Judge Benjamin Bolser presided over a full docket in the 26th Circuit Court Monday morning.
James Worth, 55, had his arraignment hearing for a charge of police officer assaulting/resisting/obstructing.
Curtis Jarman, 35, charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct to the second degree for a person under the age of 13, had a status conference. He will have another status conference on June 2.
Brandon Hall, 32, charged with stalking, assault with great intent to do bodily harm less than murder, aggravated domestic violence, five counts of domestic violence, controlled substance possession, home invasion of the first degree, aggravated stalking, and assault or assault and battery, had a status conference. His next status conference will be on June 16.
Gregg Eilber, 32, had a parole violation hearing. He originally pleaded guilty to one count of possession of analogues. He will next appear in court on May 19.
Dominick Medlin, 34, was found guilty from the verdict of a jury trial on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and one count of domestic violence. On Monday, he had a hearing due to his case being overturned by the Court of Appeals. He will have a bond hearing on May 19.
Pashan Hall, 32, was arraigned for one count of possession of a financial transaction device and 11 counts of financial transaction device illegal sale/use. She will have a jury trial at a future date. Hall will next appear in court on June 2.
Karen Hall pleaded guilty to one charge of obstructing a police officer.
Ashley Merchant, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of methamphetamine possession. She may receive a 7411 status when she is sentenced on June 16.
Jeremy Coburn, 45, was arraigned for one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of possession of a firearm under the influence. He was scheduled for a status conference on May 19 and will have a jury trial.
Paul Walchak, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count of police officer assaulting/resisting/obstructing, and one count of child abuse of the third degree. His habitual offender charge was dismissed.
Jack Hutchinson, 25, was given a delay of sentence. One count of obstructing police was dismissed.
Kristy Clay, 24, was sentenced to 11 months in jail and two years of probation for resisting/obstructing a police officer. She will attend drug court. If Clay completes both drug court and probation successfully, she will not have to serve jail time.
Thomas Raymer, 37, pleaded guilty on March 17 to one count of failure to comply with sex offender reporting regulations. He is from Illinois, and he did not report that he was in Alpena County for more than three business days. On Monday, Raymer was sentenced and given until May 27 to turn himself in for two months’ incarceration. He was also sentenced to 18 months of probation.
Ronald Martz, 41, charged with larceny by conversion for $1,000 or more but less than $20,000, was sentenced to jail and 18 months of probation. Martz’s legal counsel, Attorney Dennis Grenkowicz, argued that Martz should be allowed to start his jail time on Sept. 1 since Martz runs a business that primarily services people in the summer. Bolser ordered that Martz begin his jail time on Monday. Martz was led out of the courtroom by a deputy from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office.
Justine Woodward, 27, was arraigned and pleaded guilty to one count of possession of methamphetamine. She will be sentenced June 16 and may receive 7411 status that day.
Jaden Mayfield, 23, pleaded guilty to four charges of resisting police on March 17. Three more charges for resisting police were dismissed. He received a delayed sentencing and was sentenced to a probation period.
