ALPENA — The Michigan State Police Alpena Post is proud to announce the promotion of Michael Oliver to the rank of sergeant, as stated in a Wednesday press release.

Sgt. Oliver is a native of Alpena, Michigan. He began his career with the MSP in 2016 as a member of the 131st Trooper Recruit School. Sgt. Oliver’s first assignment was at the MSP Calumet Post, where he served as a trooper. He later worked as a trooper at the MSP Alpena Post before joining the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team in Alpena as a detective trooper specialist. Sergeants at the Alpena Post are responsible for the supervision of troopers and a multitude of administrative tasks.
