After a 17-year hiatus, the boys’ golf program returned to Hillman last year.
Coach Tom LaFleche said, “It has been really exciting to get the program back together, and the kids are truly enjoying it. The team is showing several signs of success this year after a very successful season for a first-year team. The kids have put in a lot of hard work, and it’s now starting to show in just a second year of the program.”
Hillman is currently competing in the North Star League and the Ski Valley League this year. Earlier this week, at the Ski Valley Conference Championship, Hillman brought home two First-Team All-Conference awards and two Honorable Mention All-Conference awards. This young, senior-less team is led by sophomores Rhys LaFleche and Brody Kennard, who have both been named First-Team All-Conference. The two honorable mentions went to juniors Dylan Hiveley and Easton Hunt.
“They have been putting in the hard work, time, and dedication, and it’s showing and reflecting on their scores,” LaFleche said. “If these kids continue to improve as much as they did from last year to this year, we are going to have a very good team for the next several years.”
The Hillman Varsity Golf Team will wrap up its season next week at Regional Competition at Shanty Creek.
