Final businesses, opening date, and official name of downtown market announced

News Photo by Reagan Voetberg Five cabins are in the process of being built on Wednesday afternoon. The cabins will be part of the new downtown market, Water Street Commons. The five businesses selected to be included in the market are Alpena Sourdough and Health Store, Blu Blends, Birch Hill Grocery, Calia’s Empurrium, and Mana Wellness. Knaebe’s Apple Farm Ciderworks will also be included in the market in a larger cabin.
Downtown Alpena announced Tuesday on Facebook that the new market on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Water Street will be named Water Street Commons.
The two final vendors were also announced: Alpena Sourdough and Health Store and Blu Blends.
Alpena Sourdough and Health Store offers a lineup of organic sourdough breads, scones, seasonal specials, and health and wellness products — all 100% homemade and mindfully sourced, according to the Facebook post.
Blu Blends sells smoothies, acai bowls, bold coffee, and wholesome grab-and-go foods designed for everyday adventures. See more about the business on Instagram at blublends.mi.
Other businesses included in the market will be Birch Hill Grocery, Calia’s Empurrium, Mana Wellness, and Knaebe’s Apple Farm Ciderworks.
Builders are busy getting the shops ready, and vendors will start opening the weekend of Flower Fest, starting June 6.
