State Rep. Cam Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, welcomed Emerson Batory, a 10th-grade student at Alpena High School, to the State Capitol in Lansing last week. Batory had the opportunity to be a legislator for a day after winning a local art contest hosted by Cavitt. His winning submission was a painting of the Northern Lights above Northeast Michigan.
