POLICE BLOTTER: Montmorency County deputies respond to crash, welfare checks, more

Recent actions by law enforcement agencies in Northeast Michigan. This has been only lightly edited.

Feb. 17

5:50 p.m.: An officer on routine patrol came across a vehicle in the ditch. He stopped and spoke with the driver, no injury and no damage to the vehicle, just a slide-off.

6:07 p.m.: MCSO deputies responded to a physical altercation in Avery Township. The deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared without incident.

Feb. 18

10:24 a.m.: A two-vehicle crash was reported in Hillman Township; a deputy responded to take the report. No injuries were reported.

10:55 a.m.: A report of dogs in the roadway in Vienna Township was made. A deputy responded to the residence, the dogs were no longer in the roadway.

Feb. 19

3:26 a.m.: Albert Township Fire Department responded to a residence for a possible carbon monoxide alarm.

Feb. 20

7:24 p.m.: Hillman Fire Department responded to a residence to help the homeowner reset their smoke detectors.

9:55 p.m.: A deputy responded to the Atlanta Post Office for a complaint of a female subject sleeping in the lobby. Upon his arrival the deputy found the building secure and no one in the lobby.

Feb. 21

6:20 a.m.: A report was made of an alarm going off in a business in Albert Township. Officers responded to the business, the building was found to be secure. Officers cleared without incident.

9:47 a.m.: While on routine patrol a deputy came upon a vehicle stuck on the side of the roadway. A tow truck was called to assist the driver; once the vehicle was pulled from the snow the deputy cleared without incident.

1:37 p.m.: A welfare check was requested on a subject in Briley Township. Officers located the subject and found him to be fine. The officer cleared without incident.

9:38 p.m.: A vehicle-deer accident was reported in Rust Township; a report was taken.

9:46 p.m.: Tri Township Fire Department responded to a vehicle on fire in Loud Township. Upon law enforcement's arrival, the owner was able to put the fire out. M&D was contacted to tow the vehicle.

Feb. 22

10:59 a.m.: A welfare check was requested on a resident of Hillman Township. A deputy responded to the residence and spoke with the subject. He was fine, the deputy cleared without incident.

4:55 p.m.: A DNR officer while on routine patrol stopped a snowmobile in Albert Township, the driver was found to be driving on a revoked license, he was cited and given a court date.

11:23 p.m.: An individual was concerned there might've been a lost snowmobiler in Hillman Township after noticing a snowmobile going back and forth across a river. Deputies responded to the area but were unable to locate the individual and cleared without incident.

Feb. 23

9:55 a.m.: A welfare check was requested on a resident of Albert Township. An officer responded to the home, and spoke with the subject. He states he has just been staying inside due to the weather.

8:26 p.m.: Deputies conducted a welfare check at a residence in Albert Township. The subject no longer lives in the county, the requesting party was provided the phone number for the correct department.

11:06 p.m.: A deputy conducted a traffic stop in Montmorency Township after witnessing a vehicle park in the wrong lane. After a vehicle search, deputies were able to seize methamphetamine, suboxone, and ritalin. One male was arrested and transported to be lodged at ACJ.
