Students in kindergarten through 12th grade participated in the third annual Alpena Area Brick Build competition at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center. Awards were presented on Saturday afternoon. The students gathered for a group photo following the awards ceremony. First-place winners earned a $150 Lego gift card, second earned a $100 gift card, and third earned a $50 gift card. In the kindergarten through second grade division, Margaret Bradley earned first place, Kameron Clark earned second, and Lark Moffatt earned third. In the third through fifth grade division, Hank Lixey earned first place, Simon Bradley placed second, and Harry Kowalski placed third. In the sixth through 12th grade division, Otto and Milo Dahleen earned first place, Noah Lixey placed second, and Jeremiah and Nathan Budd placed third.
