ALPENA — MyMichigan Health Foundation Alpena’s Annual Support Committee invites the community to Doctors Without Orders, a unique dining experience featuring local health care providers as waiters, according to a recent MyMichigan Health press release. The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. on Feb. 27 in the Phoenix Room of JJ’s Steak and Pizza House. In addition to the celebrity waitstaff, the event will feature a custom short menu and 50/50 raffle. All tips will go to patient care and advanced technology at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Pre-registration is required to attend.

Health care providers from MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena, Medical Specialists of Alpena, and Alcona Health Center have volunteered to serve guests in attendance.

Last year, the Doctors Without Orders event raised more than $15,000 for the Medical Center’s Emergent Heart Attack Intervention Program. Earlier this year, part of those funds was used to purchase a new radial catheterization system requested by the Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Team. The new system allows the team to better position patients for catheterizations and is made for speed and accuracy, as well as patient safety and comfort.

There is no ticket or fee to attend Doctors Without Orders other than the price of the meal which is due at the end of the evening.
