Three Alpena High School wrestlers placed at the MHSAA Individual District Tournament over the weekend, earning a spot at regionals next Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman Haley Stenz won first place in the 110-pound girls weight class with a dominating performance over her competition on Sunday. Stenz is Alpena’s first female MHSAA District Champion.

Freshman Carolyn Parker fought through an ankle injury to win two matches and earn a fourth-place finish in the 100-pound girls weight class.

Sophomore Brody Oliver earned a fourth-place finish and a ticket to regionals in the 157-pound weight class with three wins.

Stenz, Parker, and Oliver will compete in the MHSAA Individual Regional event at Cadillac High School next weekend to try to earn another top four finish in order to secure a spot in the state championships at Ford Field featuring the top 16 wrestlers of each weight class in the state.
