PREP ROUNDUP: Alcona runners place 8th, 10th

Alcona High School cross country team competed in the North Star League Finals Tuesday in Oscoda.

Darren Boyat placed eight with a time of 18:58, while Cole Upper finished 10th with a time of 19:58. Boyat earned a second-team placement.

The team’s next meet is the Freeland Invitational on Saturday.

AHS SWIM LOSES TO OGEMAW

On Tuesday, the Alpena girls varsity swim team lost at home against Ogemaw 63-106. Highlights for the meet were first-place events, such as the 200-yard Medley Relay consisting of Olivia Sherwood, Sarah Rabbideau, Tryst Bukowiecki, and Elizabeth Rabbideau and 100-yard Breaststroke Sarah Rabbideau. Second-place winners consisted of Gabriella Tolan in the 200-yard Freestyle, Elizabeth Rabbideau in the 50-yard Freestyle, Sarah Rabbideau in the 100-yard Butterfly, Tryst Bukowiecki in the 500-yard Freestyle, and Olivia Sherwood in the 100-yard Backstroke. Madelyn Farley had her personal best time in both the 50-yard Freestyle and 500-yard Freestyle. Addison Wesaw, Haley Stenz, and Maddox McClinitic did their personal best in the 50-yard Freestyle. The team did not have any disqualifications.

On Tuesday, it will be the last home meet and senior night against Garber at 5 p.m.
