PHOTO: Parody paper on sale Friday

News Photo by Olivia Eden From left, Randy Buboltz, of the Alpena Lions Club, Justin Hinkley, publisher/editor of The Alpena News, and Maj. Prezza Morrison, of the Salvation Army of Alpena, pose for a photo in the News lobby on Wednesday while holding bundles of the latest Old Newsboys parody newspaper. The Lions will sell the special edition of The News filled with outlandish parody stories at a drive-through event from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Thunder Bowl Lanes, 2192 U.S.-23, Alpena. All proceeds from donations given in exchange for the parody paper will benefit the Salvation Army’s programs aiding the needy. The News and Lions have partnered on the Old Newsboys project for nearly a century, with News reporters and editors writing the parody stories and The News’s press and mailroom crew printing and bundling the papers for the Lions to sell.
