Northeast Michigan powerlifters win big at RPG

ROCHESTER — SkellaFit Personal Training Studio and Zen 24 Hour Fitness traveled south over the weekend to participate in the RPG Fall Classic Powerlifting Meet at Rochester Performance Gym.
Every single member of the Alpena powerlifting community who participated brought home honors.
Sixty-five men and women competed in the sold-out competition, which has become a destination for sanctioned lifting under the United Powerlifting Association.

“SkellaFit’s energy was so contagious all day,” said UPA Meet Director Steve Stuecher.
“These women continue to impress me beyond words,” said SkellaFit owner and head trainer Cristi Johnson. “Of course I am proud they are once again coming home as champs, but the sportsmanship they bring to these competitions is unparalleled. I couldn’t be more proud to be their coach.”
“This event wasn’t even really a dream of mine, yet I got so caught up in the excitement and momentum of our team that I said yes to this most empowering chapter of my life,” said first-time competitor Nancy Niergarth. “I’m still flying.”
Skellafit Powerlifting next has its sights set on upcoming state and national meets scheduled for 2025 in Royal Oak.
