Alpena girls swim loses
On Tuesday, the Alpena varsity girls’ swim team traveled to Caro and lost 68-108.
Top swimmers for the meet include Sarah Rabbideau with first in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM, Olivia Sherwood with first in the 100 Backstroke and third in the 50 Freestyle, and Tryst Bukowiecki with second in the 100 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle.
First place was earned in the 200 Medley Relay consisting of Olivia Sherwood, Sarah Rabbideau, Tryst Bukowiecki, and Elizabeth Rabbideau. The four also received second place in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
“Effort by all swimmers was demonstrated as the team working hard with focus and determination,” coach Jennifer Johnson said.
AHS boys soccer ties
The Alpena High School boys’ soccer team tied against Petoskey on Tuesday.
“The boys played with resilience after they found themselves at a 2-0 deficit,” said coach Gregg Supiran. “The boys entered the second half strong.”
Drake Wheelock and his defensive line covered the goal and controlled the play beginning at the back line.
Midfield was able to create some excellent passing plays to move the ball into the attack allowing for Alpena’s forwards to score twice in the second half.
“Great effort was put in by all the players,” Supiran said.
Their current record now sits at 4-4-3.
