POLICE BLOTTER: Montmorency County deputies respond to gunshots, stolen vehicle, noise complaint

Aug. 26
3:33 p.m.: A resident in Lewiston reported damage to his post and the flag attached to his mailbox. The resident was advised to purchase cameras for further issues.
4:24 p.m.: A business in Briley Township reported that a male subject attempted to use a counterfeit hundred-dollar bill. When the cashier noticed it was fake, the subject took the bill back and left the business.
4:52 p.m.: M Deputies responded to gunshots heard in Albert Township. The reporting person was not able to decipher which direction they were coming from but stated it was close to his property. Upon arrival deputies were unable to hear any gunshots and cleared.
10:20 p.m.: A resident in Hillman wanted to log an incident that happened the night prior. She states that around 1:00 in the morning there were multiple unknown men on her porch and when she turned the outside light on, the subjects ran off.
Aug. 27
9:29 p.m.: MCSO deputies responded to the report of a stolen vehicle in Albert Township. A male subject was given the keys to the vehicle but has not returned to the residence. After searching multiple businesses, the male was reported to be at, the deputies arrived at the complainant’s residence and found both the vehicle and the male subject on scene. Law enforcement cleared the scene without incident.
11:12 p.m.: Residents in Briley Township were woken up by gunshots and yelling. MCSO deputies responded and spoke with the complainant to gather more information. After investigating the area, a deputy found subjects in the area of where the gunfire was coming from and spoke with them.
Aug. 28
7:42 a.m.: A male subject driving westbound on M32 near Lake Inez called to report a large rock in the road, he believed that smaller cars may hit the rock. A deputy responded to the area and removed the rock from the roadway.
4:42 p.m.: During a traffic stop on M-32 near the M-33 junction a female from Hillman was issued a citation for no security. The vehicle was towed due to not having valid insurance.
5:02 p.m.: A deputy responded to a dispute between a female and her grandson on Carter Rd. The parties were advised to keep clear of each other for the night.
5:32 p.m.: A welfare check was requested on a resident of Hillman Township, contact was made with the subject was she was fine.
Aug. 29
12:32 p.m.: A resident of Albert Township called and requested an officer to speak with his neighbor about damaging the road the reside on. A deputy contacted the neighbor and conveyed the RP’s concerns.
1:06 p.m.: A verbal domestic situation was reported via 911. MCSO deputies responded to the scene and after speaking with all parties involved they cleared without incident.
3:57 Pp.m.:M Dispatch received a call referencing custody of three dogs. Dispatch spoke with both parties involved and they were advised this is a civil issue that needs to be handled in court.
4:40 p.m.: A second call came into dispatch refencing the same civil dog issue. The parties were arguing over the dogs and the female subject reported that her arm got injured. Deputies responded to the scene to speak with the subjects.
6:15 p.m.: A deputy came across debris in the roadway on M-32 and stopped to clean it up. 3 printers and an ice machine were cleared from the road.
8:21 p.m.: An MSP trooper conducted a traffic stop and found the driver had a valid warrant out of Montmorency County. The subject was placed into custody and transported to ACJ.
8:30 p.m.: A resident came into the MCSO lobby concerned that there might be people at his house in Briley Township. A deputy checked the residence and found it secure, nobody was at the house.
Aug. 30
6:28 p.m.: An Albert Township resident called MCSO with a complaint of a few teenage subjects making a disturbance at a near by property, a deputy drove through the area and was unable to locate the subjects.
7:42 PM A deputy responded to a residence in Hillman Township with a loose dog complaint. The deputy was able to locate the owner of the dogs and advised him to keep the on a leash to avoid any further incidents.
Aug. 31
1:42 a.m.: A deputy responded to a residence in Briley Township where there was yelling in the subject’s front yard. After investigating the scene, the second party had a misunderstanding and thought someone was in their yard. The deputy cleared the scene with no incidents.
11:48 p.m.: An Albert Township resident made a complaint about a side by side driving at excessive speeds. A deputy in the area searched for the vehicle but was unable to locate it.
Sept. 1
12:04 a.m.: A Hillman Village resident reported two subjects on their property, deputies responded to the residence but weren’t able to find the subjects.
6:10 p.m.: Dispatch received a call about a downed powerline in Albert Township, Albert Township fire department as well as PIE&G responded to restore power to the area.
