PREP ROUNDUP: AHS girls’ swim team wins first meet
The Alpena High varsity girls’ swim team won their first meet on Tuesday, defeating Cadillac, 84-82.
The lead scorer and captain of the team, Sarah Rabbideau, led the victory earning 16 points and earned first place in her individual events of 100 Butterfly, 100 Breastroke and support in first for the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. Elizabeth Rabbideau scored 14 points earning first place in the 50 Freestyle, second place in the 500 freestyle, and first in the 400 freestyle relay. Tryst Bukowiecki also scored 14 points with first in the 100 Freestyle, second place in the 200 IM, and first in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Olivia Sherwood scored 11 points and earned second place in her 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle. She also helped earn first in the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. The entire team all earned points and scored contributing to the win.
The next meet will be on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Oscoda.
AHS TENNIS IS POSTPONED
The Alpena High School boys’ varsity tennis match against Harbor Springs, scheduled for Wednesday was postponed due to poor weather conditions. The event will be rescheduled for Sept. 5 at 4 p.m.
