ALPENA — A successful open house at Besser Senior Living Community on Thursday introduced attendees to the community and helped connect them with other resources for managing late-in-life living transitions.
Besser, located at 325 Johnson St. in picturesque Alpena, is one of eight senior living communities owned and operated by Hinkson Properties. A Michigan-based company, Hinkson has offered a full continuum of care to seniors — including home health services, assisted living, and memory care — for over 30 years.
Besser features 28 assisted living rooms and 20 memory care beds. The open house attendees took tours of the community, including a bright, airy dining room, an activity room, and a salon, among other accommodations.
Besser’s staff is available to assist residents 24 hours a day, providing nutritious meals and snacks, managing medication, helping with dressing, bathing, and general hygiene, and driving residents to necessary appointments.
The open house also featured representatives from Compassus, Senior Care of Alpena, Hospice of Michigan, McLaren Health Management Group, and MyMichigan, who provided attendees with information about their services.
Besser is currently at capacity, but the facility is accepting prospective residents on its waitlist. For more information, visit www.besserseniorliving.com.
