ALPENA — Alpena Community College and the Alpena Community College Foundation announced the departure of Brenda Herman from the college and Foundation in a press release on Tuesday.
As executive director of development and executive director of the ACC Foundation, Herman was an invaluable member of the college organization and contributed significantly to the success of ACC, the ACC Foundation, and ACC students, according to the release.
After approximately six years of service, Herman decided to pursue new opportunities and challenges outside of ACC. Her last day with the college was June 19. Since then, ACC employees and ACC Foundation representatives have conducted a search process for the next executive director. Currently, that position is unfilled.
“I really appreciate Brenda’s service to the foundation and her contributions to making a college education more accessible to students seeking a better life,” said ACC Foundation Board of Trustees President Susan Fitzpatrick. “Her hard work directly led to important improvements to the College, which benefited our whole community. We will miss Brenda’s leadership and remain forever grateful for her time at the ACC Foundation.”
Former ACC Foundation Executive Director Penny Boldrey, who retired in June 2018 after serving the foundation for 16 years prior to Herman coming on board, has returned to the college on an interim basis until the next executive director is hired.
“I care deeply about the College, its students, and its staff,” said Boldrey. “It’s an incredible honor for me to serve in this interim position with the Foundation.”
