Michigan State Police Alpena Post reports local ‘Coffee with a Cop’ events
ALPENA — The Michigan State Police Alpena Post will be hosting several “Coffee with a Cop” events, according to a press release from MSP on Wednesday.
Troopers from the MSP Alpena Post, officers from other law enforcement agencies, and community members will come together in an informal, relaxed meeting to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in their neighborhoods while supporting a local restaurant.
“Law enforcement officers frequently interact with the public during emergencies or emotional situations,” the release said. “Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street or while on patrol. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.”
The event will last approximately one hour and will be held at the following locations:
∫ Presque Isle: Kortman’s Restaurant in Rogers City, July 22, 9 to 10 a.m.
∫ Oscoda County: Daily Grind in Mio, July 23, 9 to 10 a.m.
∫ Alcona County: Teresa’s Diner in Harrisville, July 25, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
∫ Alpena County: Cabin Creek Coffee in Alpena, July 26, 9 to 10 a.m.
∫ Montmorency County: White Elk Coffee House in Atlanta, Aug. 1, 9 to 10 a.m.
