From left, John McMurry, Lori Markowski, Sadie Couture, and Angie Woloszyk pose for a photo at the Alpena Goodwill store as the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District recognizes area businesses and organizations this month for partnering with the AMA ESD to provide work-based learning opportunities to students in the Transition Program at Pied Piper School. The partnership matches area businesses/organizations with students’ career interests and allows students to work in that field of interest to build employability skills. Those skills ready students for future employment. Area businesses were given a certificate of thanks and a sticker acknowledging their dedication to Exceptional Youth in the community. Participating businesses include: Nowicki’s Sausage Shoppe, Alpena Community College’s Lumberjack Shack, the APlex, the Alpena County Library, Save-A-Lot, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The AMA ESD has secured these partnerships for next school year and will be seeking new partnerships as well. Check TheAlpenaNews.com for more photos.
