A 41-year-old Alpena man was arraigned on Thursday in 88th District Court in Alpena County on one count of domestic violence and one count of interfering with an electronic communications device, according to a press release from Michigan State Police.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post were dispatched to a report of an alleged domestic assault at a residence on Michigan Avenue in Alpena. The alleged victim claimed in an interview that the suspect stole her medication and then assaulted her. Afterward, the suspect attempted to grab the victim’s phone when she dialed 911, according to police.

The man’s next scheduled court appearance is on May 29.
